Shamijima Island is a small island about 1 km north and south, about 300 m east to west, about 3 km around.It is the smallest island in the Setouchi triennnale is held.
Major artworks are set up at the former Shami elementary and junior high school and Nishinohama beach, Manyohall, and there venues are about 5 minutes on foot, so you can all go around on foot.
First, get a art-map at the Shamijima Information Office located in the western parking at the Seto Ohashi Bridge Commemorial Park.
If you step forward in the direction of Shamijima, you will see a small mountain on your left. This small mountain is the artwork “stratums” of Tanya Preminger. Please try climbing.
After seeing the “Stratums“, step on the small fishing port on your right, on Shamijima Island where old-fashioned scenery remains.To the west side of the island.
On the nishinohama beach ,the “Knitting the Sky -Sora Ami-” spreads in front of you.
There is a Manyohall when going south along the beach.
In the air dome “Oiwajima2” , it is a space that imaged the scenery of the Seto Inland Sea.
“Stories of 12 islands and port” is a work that made the story of the islands a flip book.
You return to the way you come and go to Nakanda Beach.
Beyond the pass you can see the Seto Ohashi bridge in front of you.
